McGuinn Hybrid Homes is a Columbia-based home builder in South Carolina, and has been a market leader for more than 35 years. The team is made up of people who have a commitment to the McGuinn company mission statement, “OUR MISSION IS TO TRANSFORM ONE LIFE AT A TIME BY DELIVERING GREAT HOMES THAT STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES.” The leadership of the company, as well as each individual on the team, demonstrates their personal commitment to the community. Case in point, Kyle Maley. Kyle is the warranty manager for McGuinn Hybrid Homes.
Kyle and his wife, Leslie, have initiated a new program called Play It Forward. Its mission is “to provide athletic equipment to families in need so that all children have an equal chance to pursue sports”.
Every parent who has a child involved in sports, whether in a rec program or travel ball club, knows how expensive it is. Providing them with the equipment they need to get started, purchasing new cleats each year for a growing youngster, keeping them in shin guards, shirts, shorts and socks… seemingly endless, right? But what happens to the kid who’s parent(s) cannot afford the equipment or shoes or clothing? He/she is left out of sports. And that’s not something that Kyle and Leslie are willing to accept. Their initial goal with Play It Forward is to provide needy children with a Full Kit to get started. Depending on the child’s age and the sport they choose, Play It Forward Sports is looking to provide a bag to these underprivileged kids that contains, for example, a ball, shorts, cleats, socks, and shin guards (soccer).
This is where you, the Lexington/Columbia community, can step up and help. Has your child outgrown his/her cleats? Lost interest in a sport for which you have gently used equipment? Or would you like to make a financial donation to help? Kyle and Leslie are accepting equipment and monetary donations now so they can make up the Full Kits for these kids come Fall 2021, before the season begins. You can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or message them on Facebook: Facebook.com/PlayItForwardSouthCarolina They set up at various sporting events with a collection table and they are also available to pick up your donation, if you prefer.
